A wonderful “thank you and pat on the back” from Ben and Susie
Mendoza. They provided a wonderful luncheon for those who work
tirelessly to provide food for those in need, those who donate items
or money to continue with this effort. About 36 church members
attended.
This was a catered event, and the food was delicious. Baked chicken
and crab cakes were the main entrees. The potato salad got rave
reviews. Did I mention the double-layer chocolate mousse cake? Ben
went the extra mile to provide that. Everyone was hoping there
would be a few slices left to take home. But that wasn’t the case.
Ben gave a short speech to let all of us know how important we are to
the Hungry Team. Our efforts to provide for those in need have
been an ongoing ministry for 34 years. Unfortunately, Ben could not
stay for the luncheon. Susie was not up to attending. So, he took two
platters to share the meal with Susie. They were both missed.
Many of those in attendance pitched in for the clean-up. It just seems
to be a theme at Mt. Zion...doing what needs to be done.
Thank you, Ben and Susie, you went the extra mile to recognize those
on the “front lines” and those behind the scenes to sustain this
important ministry. Your leadership and commitment to the future is
invaluable.
