Appalachia Service Project (ASP) is a Christian ministry open to all people whose vision is to eradicate substandard housing in Central Appalachia and inspire lives of Christian service.

At Mt. Zion, ASP is one of the ways we put our faith into action. Mt. Zion’s participation in ASP began in 2009 with a team of 15 and has continued as an annual mission ever since. Through this ministry, generations of Mt. Zion members — youth and adults alike — have experienced fellowship after long days of work, shared meals, laughter, prayer, and meaningful relationships with the families they serve.

Our Mission in Action

Each summer, our team travels to Central Appalachia to help make homes warmer, safer, and drier for families in need.

More Than Construction

ASP does more than repair homes. It builds compassion, gratitude, and unity. Our team returns home with:

  • A renewed passion for service
  • A deeper appreciation for what we have
  • Stronger bonds within our church family
  • A fresh understanding that, regardless of geography, education, or economic class, we are all members of the family of God

We accept people right where they are — just the way they are.

Why It Matters

ASP allows us to:

  • Help alleviate poverty right here in America
  • Serve alongside other believers from across the country
  • Experience firsthand the power of Christian community
  • See faith lived out in practical, tangible ways

It is hands-on ministry that changes both homes and hearts.
